Italian bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni lives for the art of storytelling through music. With a career spanning more than 25 years, he has brought his distinctive warmth, versatility, and charisma to the world’s great opera houses and concert halls, from his debut with the Vienna Philharmonic at the Salzburg Festival under Nikolaus Harnoncourt to the most celebrated stages today.
Renowned for his wide-ranging repertoire, Pisaroni has portrayed some of opera’s most iconic characters: Figaro and the Count in Le nozze di Figaro, Guglielmo and Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte, Leporello and the title role in Don Giovanni, Méphistophélès in both Gounod’s Faust and Berlioz’s La Damnation de Faust, and Golaud in Pelléas et Mélisande. Recent highlights include his debuts as Dr. Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore at Seattle Opera, Enrico VIII in Anna Bolena at Opernhaus Zürich, the Four Villains in Les Contes d’Hoffmann at Teatro alla Scala, and Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia at Los Angeles Opera.
Always seeking new artistic challenges, Pisaroni created the role of Don Rodrigue in the world premiere of Marc-André Dalbavie’s Le Soulier de satin at Opéra national de Paris, and has embraced an extraordinary range of characters, from Mahomet II in Rossini’s Le Siège de Corinthe, to Lorenzo Da Ponte in Tarik O'Regan’s The Phoenix, to Giorgio in Bellini’s I Puritani.
In concert, he is a frequent collaborator with many of the world’s most distinguished conductors, including Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Michael Tilson Thomas, Andris Nelsons, Sir Simon Rattle, Gustavo Dudamel, and Riccardo Muti. His performances span a wide musical landscape, from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Missa Solemnis to Schönberg’s A Survivor from Warsaw, Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, and major works by Rossini, Berlioz, Schumann, Brahms, Haydn, and Bach.
A passionate recitalist, Pisaroni has performed at leading venues such as Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, the Concertgebouw, the Musikverein, and the Edinburgh Festival, bringing his deep expressive range to intimate stages around the world.
His acclaimed discography includes Don Giovanni, Così fan tutte, Le nozze di Figaro, Rinaldo, Simon Boccanegra, as well as recent releases of Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Agrippina, Roméo et Juliette, and Rossini’s Le Siège de Corinthe.
